You have made the decision to go south for some fun in the sun. So where do you go?
You could go just about anywhere if you wanted to fly through Toronto, but that can be a pain. Vancouver offers 6 easy choices.
#1 Hawaii
About a 5 ½ hr direct flight, consistently fabulous weather all year long. If you choose to get away from July right through to October, I would recommend Hawaii.
#2 Mexico
It’s just about the easiest warm weather spot to get to, especially the pacific side. 4 ½ hrs. to Puerto Vallarta, the beaches are not as nice as the Caribbean side, but they are the most friendly & humble people I have ever met. I don’t recommend you go between July 1st. and October 31st as it’s their hurricane, rainy, mosquito & humid season.
#3 Costa Rica
Flights are only seasonal (Nov. – April). This country boasts they have more Doctors than police officers, so this tells you how safe it is. They also have the most plant & bird species of any other country in the world. A must see!!
#4 Dominican Republic
The best beaches of all the other hotspots, and some pretty tasty food as well. It’s only downfall would be that if you go off your resort, the locals can be very aggressive and hard to get away from when selling their wares.
#5 Cuba
Loaded with culture, and the people are very friendly and humble. Great beaches too. Unfortunately the food is just so-so, and the resorts a little run down. Choose your resort very carefully. I recommend the Melia’s and Iberostars.
#6 Jamaica
What a fun country! The people are so laid back and carefree. The food is spicy with lots of flavor. Beaches are great. Crime can be a bit of a problem, so be extra careful and I strongly recommend staying away from Kingston the Capital City.
